Offshore pipeline counterweight welded wire mesh, also known as concrete weight coated mesh, is a specialized welded wire mesh made from low carbon steel wires. The line wires are deeply crimped and then welded into a corrugated structure, allowing for easy application of concrete coating, after which the mesh can be embedded underwater or underground. This product is primarily used for reinforcing, weighting, and protecting subsea oil and gas pipelines. It effectively resists corrosion and pressure in marine environments, thereby extending pipeline lifespan.
This welded wire mesh is made of low carbon steel with a galvanized surface finish, available in either cold-galvanized or hot-dip galvanized options, and complies with ASTM standards. Its stable structure and superior corrosion resistance effectively prevent damage to concrete weight-coated pipelines during and after installation.

Competitive Advantages
- High tensile strength. Manufactured from high-strength steel wires, it withstands the stress and pressure during pipeline construction, ensuring pipeline stability and durability.
- Corrosion and rust prevention. Following galvanization, the welded wire mesh exhibits excellent corrosion and rust prevention properties, effectively mitigating corrosion and damage to subsea pipelines.
- Significant structural reinforcement effect. The corrugated structure provides superior concrete adhesion, enhancing the pipeline’s structural integrity and preventing issues such as cracks or leaks caused by external forces.
- Easy to install. This welded wire mesh features a simple design and is easy to install, quickly providing reinforcement and protection for pipelines, thereby saving construction time and costs.
- High cost-effectiveness. Compared to traditional pipeline reinforcement methods (such as concrete or rebar reinforcement), offshore pipeline counterweight welded wire mesh offers a more cost-effective solution suitable for long-term use.
- Strong weatherability. The product can withstand harsh marine environments, including extreme temperatures and severe weather, ensuring the long-term stable operation of pipelines.
- Neat appearance. The welded wire mesh has a neat and regular appearance with secure weld points, facilitating transportation and stacking, and maintaining a good appearance after installation.
Application
Offshore pipeline counterweight welded wire mesh is commonly used in a variety of pipeline applications, including:
- Subsea oil and gas pipelines: Used for reinforcement of subsea natural gas and oil pipelines, enhancing their overall strength and durability, ensuring stable operation in high-pressure, highly corrosive marine environments.
- Wetland natural gas pipelines: Effectively resists erosion, corrosion, and wildlife damage, providing robust and reliable external protection for pipelines crossing wetland environments.
- Riverbed oil and gas pipelines: Provides additional support, distributing the pipeline’s weight evenly across riverbeds or creek bottoms, thereby reducing the risk of disturbance and damage to the underwater ecosystem and structures.
- Water supply and sewage treatment pipelines: Suitable for water supply systems, sewage treatment plants, and desalination facilities, effectively preventing corrosion and extending the system’s service life.
- Chemical process pipelines: In chemical plants, refineries, and petrochemical installations, counterweight mesh combined with concrete coating is used to resist corrosive media erosion and ensure operational safety.
- Mining and ore conveying pipelines: Suitable for the reinforcement and protection of conveying pipelines in mining areas, significantly enhancing their corrosion resistance and durability under complex operating conditions.
